We inform Parliament, our primary client of the results of our work through our reports. These reports provide Parliament with independent assurance on the adequacy of accountability and transparency of resource management practices in the public sector. Since the promulgation of the Public Audit Act 2007(as Amended), we are mandated to report to Parliament on matters arising from:
- our program of performance audits, addressing issues of effectiveness, efficiency and economy in the management of public resources
- inquiries into matters of importance such as illegal acts, misappropriation or frauds
- our reviews and audit of quarterly and annual financial statements of government (PublicAccounts)
- the results of annual audits of public enterprises’ financial and performance statements.
- the management reports on systems of internal controls and compliance of MDAs
We also table the Auditor-General’s Annual Plan and Annual Report to inform Parliament of our planned activity and actual performance respectively.
