TOAG Strengthens Public Sector Capacity through International Reporting Standards Training

The Tonga Office of the Auditor General (TOAG) successfully hosted a comprehensive International Reporting Standards Training Programme, conducted over two sessions from 3–10 June 2026 and 15–19 June 2026.
The training was facilitated by Dr. Peni Tupou Fukofuka of Tino and Joe Services Ltd, with valuable support from former Minister of Finance, Mr. Tiofilusi Tiueti, who also served as a facilitator. Drawing on their extensive knowledge and experience, they delivered practical guidance on the application of international reporting standards and their importance in strengthening transparency, accountability, and high-quality financial reporting within the public sector.
The programme brought together staff from the Tonga Office of the Auditor General, along with participants from various Government Ministries and Public Sector organisations. The training provided an opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of international reporting standards, exchange experiences, and strengthen collaboration across government agencies.
This important capacity-building initiative was made possible through funding from the KAFA-TAHA Tonga–Australia Governance Support Platform, supported by the Australian Government through Australian Aid. The Tonga Office of the Auditor General sincerely acknowledges this support and its continued investment in strengthening governance and public financial management in Tonga.
